Yesterday, I wrote a bit about how I was jealous of all my friends (Facebook and otherwise) who were out running the Shamrock Run. I will admit that I was feeling a bit down about it....
We had to stay home today because my daughter is on her last day of Pink Eye Quarantine and my house cleaner was coming. I can't remember if I wrote about this, but I finally caved and hired someone to come in once a month to clean our kitchen and bathrooms. Not only am I not exactly Martha Stewart AND cleaning these areas is especially problematic with children, but cleaning products really, really mess with my psoriasis. I can wear rubber gloves, but usually for no more than 5-10 minutes at a time. So, we're paying someone to do the dirty work.
Don't get me wrong, I love having someone do this for me. However, I'm not exactly comfortable with it--it is the whole idea of having someone I barely know in cleaning my bathroom...and my kitchen. I don't know...it is just out of my comfort zone. So there was that...
And there was the fact that my kids are going absolutely stir crazy right now. I cannot wait for tomorrow morning when my daughter will officially be out of quarantine and can go to preschool! My son and I will probably hit Target and maybe the grocery store...exciting stuff, I know. Anyway, the kids are bouncing off the walls.
All this means is that by the time my husband got home (a little early, thankfully), I was done. I needed to get out of here for a little while. So, what did I do? I laced up my brand-spanking-new Brooks Ariels, found my earbuds, and went out for week 1 of C25K.
Yes, I am back on the road to becoming a runner! I'm still not 100% from the cold from hell, but this felt WONDERFUL! Usually, I do my 3+ mile route and then just walk after my C25K session is over, but I wanted to play it safe today, so I just did the C25K session...2.15 miles in 32 minutes! Here is the proof!
Okay, I know it...I look rather irritated...but I wasn't! I promise!
I'm already looking at upcoming 5ks! The Helvetia Half is including a 5K and it is at the beginning of June. However, that is a HUGE event and crowds are not my thing. I've done races with Uberthons in the past and they have some events coming up, so I'll try for some of those.
I had asked my husband to bring home a pizza for himself and the kids for dinner and, when I got home, there were 3 pieces left--and they were pepperoni, my favorite! Since I had plenty of points left for the day, I grabbed a piece. After I had eaten half of it, my husband reminded me that it had wheat in it! Argghhh! Oh well, since I'm still coming down from gorging myself on soda bread yesterday, I hopefully won't notice that too much!
I was a good girl after that and had a salad for dinner, which was quite satisfying. I still have 12 points left, so I'll have to something good to snack on tonight!
